The challenging Trailshadow 2020 Open Expeditions are now open for recruitment, the programmes run from January to June 2020 and include a full training commitment (this includes the official practice and qualifying expeditions).
Training takes place at locations around the north of Ireland and Teams are expected to devise and plan their own expedition routes. Exact dates for training and expeditions will avoid exam dates and are agreed with the candidates as part of the Induction evening, but dates are now set out below:

COST: Silver £160 and Gold £220 per candidate.
Payment is due on or before the initial February training session and will be non-refundable. Costs cover training, insurance, hire of tentage and stoves, safety satellite tracking system, provision of an expedition assessor and hostel charges where required. Participants will need to supply their own boots, rain gear, rucksack, and sleeping bag. All Groups will be supervised by a qualified Mountain Leader and mountain first-aider.

DofE requires that expedition teams consist of no more than 7 candidates, and no fewer than 4. Candidates occasionally drop out of the programme and where a dropout compromises the viability of a team TrailShadow reserve the right to merge and amend the make-up of teams.
