The challenging Trailshadow 2021 Gold Expedition is now open for recruitment, the intensive programme runs in June/August 2021 and entails 12 days of training and expedition activity (this includes the official practice and qualifying expeditions).
Training takes place at locations around the north of Ireland and Teams are expected to devise and plan their own expedition routes. Exact dates for training and expeditions will avoid exam dates and indicative dates will target June and July for training. Back to back practice and qualifier expeditions are possible with a review and recap training day between the two expeditions is scheduled for August.

COST: £350 per candidate.
Payment is due on or before the initial June training session and will be non-refundable. Costs cover training, insurance, hire of tentage and stoves, safety satellite tracking system, provision of an expedition assessor and campsite charges where required. Participants will need to supply their own boots, rain gear, rucksack, and sleeping bag. Groups will be supervised by a qualified Mountain Leader and mountain first-aider.

DofE requires that expedition teams consist of no more than 7 candidates, and no fewer than 4. Candidates occasionally drop out of the programme and where a dropout compromises the viability of a team TrailShadow reserve the right to merge and amend the make-up of teams.
